11-03-07. More fall colors on the Niangua. I had a tough time choosing a photo of the day today. We started off on our overnight float trip at about 10:00 this morning. We woke up to a dense fog coming off the river and filling up the valley. By the time we got on the river, the sun had burned off the fog and warmed things up quite a bit. We kept a pretty slow pace since we were fishing while we were floating. I probaby spent more time taking pictures than fishing, but I still had time to catch a few small fish. Noel won the pool for the biggest fish caught. He cooked it for dinner when we set up camp on a gravel bar. Dad cooked steaks, and we all stuffed ourselves while sitting around the campfire. After dinner, Dad and Noel got into a tough-man contest. This ended in both of them jumping in the river, making sure to go completely underwater. I'd say Dad was tougher...he went back in for a second dip. Dad also slept on the gravel bar with nothing but a sleeping bag, while the rest of us slept in tents. I'll be posting more pictures from the trip as I get time.
