This is at Johnson's Shut-ins State Park near Lesterville, MO. On December 14, 2005 Taum Sauk Reservoir was breeched, and more than a billion gallons of water came rushing through the Shut-ins. Apparently, a 20 foot tall wall of water came roaring through the area. Fortunately, there werent any life-threatening injuries after the breech. The strange thing is that I just recently (December 11,2005) updated the coordinates for these pictures in order for them to show up on Smugmaps. While looking at the aerial photograph, I noticed this strange looking man-made reservoir not too far away from the State Park. Having never seen an overhead view of the area, I thought it was strange to see this unusual man-made body of water right in the middle of the wilderness. Oddly enough, I saw this same aerial photo on the news just 3 days later.
