Miles Boyer > 06-22-06. Another lonely tree- this time with a fence.

I spotted this on the way home from our Association Golf Tournament today. I'm in charge of organizing and running our golf tournament each year, and I don't even play golf. It rained on us most of the day. The rain messed up our schedule, but most everyone played through the rain. I think everyone had a good time, but I sure am glad it is over.

When I first saw this field and tree, I drove right on past it. I started thinking about it a little more, so I decided to go back. The sky was slightly ominous, and the field really was bright yellow. The sun peeked out from the clouds just enough to brighten the field even more. I took a few pictures with just the tree, but I decided to add a little more interest with the fence. These colors are pretty close to what I originally saw. I just did a slight levels and saturation adjustment in Photoshop.
Miles Boyer > 06-28-06. Batteries not included.

If you can think of a better caption, I'd love to hear it.

I must give partial credit for this idea to Rick. He suggested a compact flash card on the back of my head, but I didn't have a good card slot that I could easily photograph with the same lighting. I started thinking of other ideas and came up with the battery compartment. I decided it needed a little more interest, so I threw in a hand replacing a battery. I may do more of thes with a few other ideas I had (usb port and cord, RCA plugs and cord, just about any other plug/cord combination)

I also have to give credit to Kate for helping me line up my head in the center of the frame. It is difficult to take self portraits, and it is nearly impossible to take self portraits of the back of your head.
Miles Boyer > 11-01-06. New Assorted Flavor Bananas.

This started off as a last minute effort late (for me) last night. (I'm posting this a day late.) I had been grocery shopping after work and picked up these bananas. All the bananas at the store were very under-ripe and very green.

With no other photo subject in mind, I decided to take a picture of the green bananas. My camera didn't quite capture the color correctly, and I was feeling too lazy to manually set the white balance to get the color right. So I ended up with a pretty boring picture of some bananas. I didn't feel like posting it last night, so I waited until today. I opened it up in Photoshop without any ideas of what I might do with such a boring picture. Suddenly, the idea struck me to make each banana a different color. I spent a few minutes "painting" each banana, and this is what I ended up with. I got a bit sloppy with my painting, but I'll call it good enough. I may try this another time with a better starting picture.

You should try the blue banana.... Quite an interesting flavor.
Miles Boyer > 10-05-08. Blowing Bubbles.
Miles Boyer > 01-26-08. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) Shavings. Looks like a bouquet of flowers I think. This is what happens when you drill through MDF with a wood paddle bit.

I spent the day working on trim and few other miscellaneous projects in the basement.
Miles Boyer > 06-13-08. I guess finding a four leaf clover on Friday the 13th evens things out.

Not everyone in Springfield was so lucky today. We had a record 4 inches of rain on top of already saturated ground. A number of city streets were flooded today. I watched countless cars stall out in 3 foot deep water next to our office. I was amazed at some of the bigger SUVs stalling out, while some tiny cars made it through with water going over the hood. (of course the big tough SUVs were hitting it at full speed, while the small cars carefully waded through.)

Unfortunately, I left my camera at home, so I wasn't able to document the flooding.

The rain finally relented at about 4:00 in the afternoon. Camille had fun splashing barefoot through the puddles in the driveway and sidewalk. I took quite a few pictures of her splashing, but I liked this one best.
Miles Boyer > 07-30-06. Tiny Hands, Tight Grip.

I couldn't resist another baby picture. I'm sure I'll be taking pictures of all her fingers, toes, ears, eyes, hair, nose, lips, etc for plenty of other photo of the day subjects.
Miles Boyer > 06-22-08. Camille in Deep Thought. (actually she is watching the neighbor kid, Dalton, riding his bike)

Shortly after taking this picture, I noticed a thunderhead forming to the south of us. I've always been fascinated by watching thunderheads 'boil' when they are building up, and I've been even more fascinated by the time-lapse videos that show this process.

So, I decided to make my own. I didn't have the best vantage point, but here is what I ended up with.

Miles Boyer > 08-22-06. Photo shoot with Mary & Lily. The bubbles were a hit. This photo was definitely lucky. I took quite a few pictures just like it, but either their hands were covering their faces, or one or both of them were turned away from the camera. I think I was pretty lucky to catch the action while still showing their faces. Even the bubbles seemed to line up well. I really thought I was going to keep this in color, but I sure am a sucker for black & white.
